Brujos late rally falls short, lose to Scorps down south. Playoff race tightens.
What a difference a week and 300 miles can make. A week after one of their best performances in recent memory and a win over crosstown rival the ABQ Aardvarks, the Brujos were unable to overcome a woeful start against the El Paso Scorpions on the Scorps home field, falling 64 to 21. Despite putting up 21 points in the last 9 minutes, the 59 point lead the Brujos spotted the Scorps was simply too much to overcome. The Brujos will now have the weekend off before hosting what could be a playoff deciding game against Santa Fe on April 6th.

Conversions: E. Smolenski (71', 80' x 2)
In other Rio Grande Rugby Union news, the Santa Fe Santos narrowly defeated the ABQ Aardvarks 26 - 24 at Bullhead Park on Saturday. This considerably muddies the playoff race going into the final weeks of the season.
Introducing the Wine Fest 7s!
All good things must pass, and so it was for the Celtic 7's Rugby Tournament. However the end of Celtic 7's takes place in the shadow of new life as the Brujos announce the Wine Fest 7's. Co-inciting with the Albuquerque Wine Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, the Brujos hope this new rugby tournament, along with a still to be named youth rugby tournament to be played the same weekend, will enjoy the lasting success of its predecessor.
