Still Time to Register for this Weekend's Virtual 5K Against Racism.
Calling all runners and non-runners alike, there's still plenty of time to register, donate and participate in this weekend's virtual 5K Run Against Racism!
As we demand justice for the senseless and brutal murders George Floyd, for Ahmaud Arbery, for Breonna Taylor, and countless others at the hands of law enforcement, we must also take a long hard look at the systemic racism that benefits one segment of our society yet leaves behind a large segment of Black and Indigenous Americans, and other People of Color. Now is the time to raise our voices, our dollars, and our bodies for those who are systemically oppressed.
This weekend the Duke City Roller Derby, the New Mexico Brujos, the Atomic Sisters, and Albuquerque Roller Derby are uniting to raise funds for New Mexico's Black community. Together these 4 teams are hosting a virtual 5K that can be completed anytime during the weekend of June 27 and June 28, 2020. Registrations are available in amounts of $50, $25, and $10, or you can donate without registering here.
All registration fees and contributions will be donated to the Albuquerque Black Lives Matter chapter. Please participate and advocate in a manner that best fits your lifestyle. You can still donate to this event without breaking a sweat. If you are looking for a 5K route, here is one option suggested by one of the New Mexico Brujos. We look forward to virtually running with you!
