Atomic Sisters home tournament at Balloon Fiesta this Saturday! NM Brujos Fall schedule takes shape.
New Mexico Brujos rugby is taking a little break before their upcoming fall season, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of local rugby to come out and support! Our good friends the Albuquerque Atomic Sisters rugby team are playing their only home tournament of the summer this Saturday, July 24th at Balloon Fiesta Park from 9 AM to 3 PM.
Teams competing this weekend include the OP lightning, Phoenix and Tempe. The Rocky mountain magic from Glendale are also coming to play for fun.
After two rounds of SWRU women's summer 7s circuit games the Albuquerque Atomic sisters are currently in first place! This Saturday come on out to Balloon Fiesta to witness the third round in person!
This promises to be a fun filled day featuring some of the premier rugby teams in the southwest that no rugby fan will want to miss!
NM Brujos Fall schedule takes shape, including 40th anniversary celebration weekend this September!
After a truncated spring/summer season, the New Mexico Brujos fall season schedule is starting to come together at last. Tentative plans include participation in the Santa Fe 10s tournament on September 5th, High Desert (dirt) at the end of October and a special halftime 7's game the NM Gladiators game on August 8th. More on this halftime treat next week.
However the center piece of the NM Brujos autumn plans is upcoming 40th anniversary celebration!
After over a year without rugby it's time to celebrate at last, and what better reason than 40 years as a rugby club! please save the dates this September 17th and 18th to join the New Mexico Brujos as they celebrate their 40th anniversary. Festivities include a golf tournament at paradise Hills golf course, a union wide old boys match, a Brujos cup match, as well as kangaroo court and this year's wizardfest. In addition, this year's wizardfest will include lifetime achievement awards and the inaugural NM Brujos hall of fame inductee class. This promises to be two days of rugby celebration that you won't want to miss! Practice continues!
New Mexico Brujos practice continues every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7 at Phil Chacon field south. For those unfamiliar with Phil Chacon south field the best way to get their is to turn east on Kathryn off of Louisiana and then park in the south parking lot. The field is south of the parking lot. All practices will follow strict covid safe and social distancing guidelines, and individuals can opt out of any drill or exercise as they see fit. Please bring cleats, water and a mask, and please fill out the health check form on the website before every practice!
